Charging ~Asis Kotsuro o.o

In the game, when you hold down the button to do something like a getsugatensho, it charges up and takes away your rei by however long you have that button pressed down, I suggest this could be used as a charged move dealing more damage to enemies and in turn killing them more quickly. If not, why not just take it off? It seems like something unnecessary in the game.

Yeah. Even though I charge it till my aura dissapears, it deals absolutely no extra damage. What's also stupid is that it continues taking away your Rei even though you finish charging.
If charging doesn't help, why is it there and why can we charge till our rei is empty?
